Your social media posts may reflect not only on you but also on our organization, your colleagues and your profession.Online posts are discoverable in legal proceedings. Online posts can exist forever - even posts that "disappear" after a set time can be screenshot or retrieved from online archive tools.Online posts leave your control forever.What you post online impacts your personal and professional reputation.Social media users can see that you're a member of our workforce from bio details, photos that include identifiable landmarks or your employee ID badge, and disclosure that you work for Vanderbilt Health in your post history. This can be as simple as adding "views my own" or a similar disclaimer in your account bio. If you post on social media in a way that identifies you as an employee of Vanderbilt Health, you must make it clear you don't speak for the health system or medical center. TL DR version: all other policies apply in social media, including HIPAA and our CREDO. If you have profiles on one or more social network (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc), you should please be sure to read the policy to understand how it applies to your activity. What this means for your personal social media activity Our goal is to help you use social media effectively, avoid wasted effort and reduce legal, security and reputation risk to you and to Vanderbilt Health. Vanderbilt Health's social media policy guides use of social media by its workforce. The policy applies to all employees working at all of its entities: hospitals, clinics, administrative and support functions, research and education/training. Notice: Requests to create new social media accounts are on pause while we complete an inventory and assessment of current accounts.
